Wayne is a ‘baby boomer’ with two ageing parents who want to remain living in their own home. This is becoming increasingly difficult to achieve. They each struggle with debilitating chronic diseases and need extra support to retain their at-home independence.
Wayne had trouble helping his mother and father access the aged care services they required because the system is so complex and hard to navigate. This experience led him to develop AgeSmart.
Wayne’s professional background complements the expertise gained from helping his parents. He has worked as a management consultant in the health, community and aged care sectors for over 30 years. He has run his own consulting firm, Healthcare Management Advisers, since 2003 and in this role he advises government departments, hospitals and other health services on how to redesign health and aged care services so they better meet the needs of people.
Wayne’s academic qualifications include an honours degree in Economics and a Masters of Business Administration. He is married with two adult daughters and in his spare time, he sings with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra chorus.
